Meet Bear (Icarus KVS)
Penelope’s family is excited to announce the purchase of Penelope’s next partner: Icarus KVS, affectionately known as Bear. Bear is a 10-year-old gelding sired by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve. His dam line is through Nastasia, who was sired by Contender. He is a big, beautiful bay KWPN, standing 17 hands high. Bear is sweet in temperament as well as a talented, scopey jumper. Penelope is looking forward to soaring to new heights with her new mount!
Future Plans
In the short term, Penelope plans to deepen her understanding of horses and equine sports. She is interested in general equine wellness, including body work and biomechanics towards sound, happy show-jumping athletes. Penelope continues to explore horse development and training, particularly in jumping and quality flat work.
Penelope’s goals in the longer term include participating in the Young Riders Program. Eventually, she wishes to realize her Grand Prix, World Cup, and Olympic goals. In any case, Penelope plans to become a professional within the equestrian world and to positively impact those around her wherever her journey leads.
Achievements
After a mere 5 shows in the Grand Prix Rings at 1.0m, Penelope and Whiskers rode their way into a Division Championship. Penelope accumulated sufficient points through two first place finishes and a fourth over the show week to claim the honour of Division Champion Sunday, September 10, 2023. Learn More
